While Jun's fate is unknown, her evolution has made her more important to the series than ever. In this case, she's taken the role of someone who could unlock a hidden power that would balance his Devil Gene and hopefully make Jin strong enough to stop Kazuya. That said, it hasn't seemed to stop her from giving her son the tools he needs to defeat his father. It's unclear if Jun was actually dead or simply out of the picture, but Jin always assumed the former. However, at some point, Jin seemed to fail in his efforts, putting him face to face with his mother, Jun, whom he believed to be dead. The Tekken 8 trailer sees Jin try to face his father in hopes that his reign of terror would finally end. Hiding from his past and avoiding his future, Jin subscribed to a life of stagnancy until the time came when he had to stop running. Nevertheless, he saw the error in his ways, and while he wanted to be free of his curse, he instead remained a nomad and did what he could to survive. In fact, his desire to be free of the curse has led him to cause World War III and nearly put him on an even darker path than his father's. Jin Kazama has spent his life wrestling with his Devil Gene.
